NEW YEAR BRINGS RENEWED QUESTIONS ON FDA LAB AUTHORITY

January 18, 2023 — Brett Meeks, LAB’s Executive Director, spoke with CQ RollCall about the role and authority that the FDA has in regards to labs.

“An FDA rule could be just the thing to spur congressional consensus. Renewed interest once the FDA proposes a new framework is a ‘very likely scenario,’ Meeks said. ‘Anytime a proposed rule or guidance comes out and there are people that don’t like it, you know, industry sets their hair on fire and runs through the halls of Congress,’ he said, ‘and a couple of members catch fire too.’”
